Abstract: 

TEMPORAL AND SPATIAL DISTRIBUTION OF THE SURFACE TEMPERATURE HAS AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN ATMOSPHERE ACTIVITIES, AQUATIC ORGANISM, SEA CURRENTS, SALINITY AND THE OTHER PARAMETERS. THE GOAL OF THIS RESEARCH WAS STUDYING OF URMIA LAKE SURFACE TEMPERATURE (LST) DISTRIBUTION BY USING SATELLITE IMAGES. THE PRESENTED DATA IN THIS RESEARCH WERE 12 NOAA SATELLITE IMAGES. THEY WERE PROCESSED AND CALIBRATED WITH GROUND CONTROL POINTS. THE RESULT OF URMIA LAKE SURFACE TEMPERATURE DISTRIBUTION IN MONTHS SHOWED THAT THE WARM SEASON HAS MORE TEMPERATURE GRADIENT THAN THE COLD SEASON. THE MIXING PROCESS IS DRIVEN BY STRONG WINDS, WAVES, CURRENTS AND VARIATION OF WATER SALINITY NEAR THE RIVERS’ MOUTHS. IT SEEMS THAT GROUND SPRINGS ALSO PLAY AN IMPORTANT ROLE.
