Abstract: 

IN THIS PAPER A DYNAMICAL MODEL OF TRANSMISSION LINE CONSIDERING THE FLEXURAL RIGIDITY AND TENSION EFFECTS WITHOUT EXTERNAL DAMPING IS STUDIED. SINCE THE SAG-TO-SPAN RATIO IS LESS THAN 1.8, SO THE SYSTEM CAN BE CONSIDERED LINEAR. AT THE FIRST STAGE THE GOVERNING EQUATION OF FREE MOTION IS OBTAINED, IT IS SHOWN THAT IN THE LOWER MODES THE FLEXURAL RIGIDITY EFFECT IS SIGNIFICANT, AND KNOWING THE NUMERICAL VALUE OF THIS PROPERTY IS ESSENTIAL. HOWEVER, BY THE ANALYTICAL METHODS, IS VERY HARD TO OBTAIN THESE VALUES. THEREFORE AN EXPERIMENTAL METHOD OF OBTAINING FLEXURAL RIGIDITY PROPERTY IS INTRODUCED AND THE RESULTS WHIT OTHER INVESTIGATORS ARE COMPARED. AT THE LAST STAGE, THE VIBRATION OF THE CABLE WITH WIND-INDUCED HARMONIC EXCITATION AND CONSIDERING THE STRUCTURAL DAMPING PROPERTIES IS INVESTIGATED. IT IS OBSERVED THAT AT THE HIGHER MODES, THE FLEXURAL EFFECTS CAN BE NEGLECTED, ALSO THE RESULT SHOWN THAT THE HIGHER OF THE CABLE TENSION, THE LESS OF THE FLEXURAL EFFECTS.
