Abstract: 

FOR DETERMINE THE EFFECT OF UPFC ON STEADY STATE OPERATION OF SYSTEM NEEDS A MODEL FOR LOAD FLOW. THIS PAPER INTRODUCES A COMPREHENSIVE LOAD FLOW MODEL FOR UPFC. THEN THIS MODEL IS EXTENDED FOR UPFC-ESS (ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEM) CONFIGURATION
THE ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEM CAN IMPROVE THE UPFC PERFORMANCE BY INJECTING REAL POWER FROM DC LINK. THE DEVELOPED LOAD FLOW MODEL IS USED TO IDENTIFY UPFC-ESS CHARACTERISTICS. THE UPFC CONVERTERS’ RATING IS ALSO EVALUATED IN THE PRESENT OF ESS.
