Abstract: 

REMOTE CONTROL OF EXISTING SWITCHES IN DISTRIBUTION NETWORKS CAN DECREASE MANY COSTS AND ALSO LEAD TO OTHER ADVANTAGES. IN THIS PAPER, WE PRESENT A NEW METHOD FOR DETERMINING OF OPTIMAL NUMBER AND LOCATION OF REMOTE CONTROL SWITCHES IN DISTRIBUTION NETWORKS IN ORDER TO REDUCE FEEDERS OUTAGE PERIOD. IN PROBLEM COST FUNCTION, FEEDER OUTAGE COST, COSTS OF SWITCH AUTOMATION EQUIPMENTS AND ALSO HUMAN COSTS FOR FAULT LOCATION, ISOLATION, REPAIRING AND FEEDER RESTORATION IS CONSIDERED. THE PROPOSED METHOD IS BASED ON ENUMERATION AND LOCAL VARIATIONS OPTIMIZATION ALGORITHMS. SIMULATION RESULTS CONFIRM GOOD SPEED AND ACCURACY OF PROPOSED METHOD FOR APPLICATION IN DISTRIBUTION NETWORKS.
