Abstract: 

Previous investigations have been shown that the chemical absorb ate can produce toxicity which may involve many biological organs. Among these materials, phenol is using in sanitation, industrial productions, cosmetic drugs and by special regard in anatomy laboratories, which is widely used as an agent of fixation. The aim of this investigation was to evaluate the toxically dose-dependent effects of phenol on the neurobehavioral reactions in the rat. In this study, the experimental groups were received 50, 100 and 200 mg/kg body weight phenol interapritoneally. The controls were received the same volume of the distilled water. Behavioral reactions in all groups were assessed by a computer recording and data analysis was carried out.
Our finding showed those 3-5 minutes after administration of phenol, the tremor was appeared and continued up to 7-14 minutes. The magnitude and the severity of the tremor (slight, moderate and sever) was depending up on the dose of phenol administration. These finding suggest that the phenol as the same as many other chemical compounds may cause alteration on the activities of the nervous system and even in sever case, might result in death.
