Abstract: 

SINCE THE CENTRIFUGAL PUMPS CAN BE MANUFACTURED IN SMALL SIZES, INDEPENDENT TO VALVES, AND ENABLE TO WORK WITH A LITTLE DRIVEN-ENERGY, THEY CAN BE SUPPOSED AS ONE OF THE BEST BLOOD PUMPS. THESE TYPES OF PUMPS PRODUCE CONTINUE FLOW, SO THEY CAN BE USED FOR SHORT TERM PERIOD. TO GENERATE NECESSARY PRESSURE THEY MUST WORK IN HIGH ROTARY SPEED, HOWEVER, IN THIS CONDITION IT MAY DAMAGES BLOOD CELLS DUE TO HIGH LEVEL OF SHEAR STRESSES. IN THE PRESENT STUDY, THE CENTRIFUGAL BLOOD PUMP IS NUMERICALLY SIMULATED USING COMPUTATIONAL FLUID DYNAMICS (CFD) METHOD. ACCORDING TO FLOW PATTERN AND SHEAR STRESS DISTRIBUTION OF THE MODEL HIGH RISK AREAS WHICH MAY DAMAGE BLOOD CELLS ARE PREDICTED. THE RESULTS DEMONSTRATED THAT THESE TYPES OF CENTRIFUGAL BLOOD PUMPS COULD PRODUCE SUCH ADEQUATE PRESSURE AND FLOW RATE WHICH ARE NEEDED FOR HUMAN, THEREFORE RIGHT AND LEFT VENTRICLES CAN BE REPLACED BY THEM, SPECIALLY THE RIGHT ONE.
