Abstract: 

IN THIS PAPER, A NEW APPROACH NAMED FIXED POINT FOR THE INDEPENDENT COMPONENT ANALYSIS IS INTRODUCED AND ITS PERFORMANCE IN SEPARATION OF FMRI DATA FROM NOISE AND OTHER SIGNALS IS REVIEWED. FIRST, WE HAVE APPLIED THIS METHOD TO SOME FABRICATED SIGNALS IN ORDER TO BE ASSURED OF ITS CAPABILITY IN SEPARATION DIFFERENT COMBINED SIGNALS. THIS ALSO LEAD US TO A COMPARISON BETWEEN THIS METHOD AND OTHERS SUCH AS INFOMAX. THIS METHOD WAS THEN APPLIED TO A SET OF REAL FMRI SIGNALS OBTAINED THROUGH AN EXPERIMENT. THE RESULTS SHOW THAT THE FIXED POINT ALGORITHM CONVERGES MUCH FASTER THAN USUAL METHODS AND THAT IT ALSO IS CAPABLE OF RECONSTRUCTING A VARIETY OF SIGNALS WITHOUT ANY PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OF HOW THE EXPERIMENT WAS CARRIED OUT.
