Abstract:

CONVENTIONAL FARMING METHODS HAVE UNDESIRABLE EFFECTS ON SOIL STRUCTURE AND BRING ABOUT ENVIRONMENTAL CONSEQUENCES AND HEALTH HAZARDS FOR CURRENT AND FUTURE GENERATIONS. JIROFT CITY HAS A STRATEGIC STATUS IN TERMS OF AGRICULTURAL ACTIVITIES AND CONTINUOUS FARMING OF POTATO HAS CONSIDERABLY DEVELOPED. SUCH CONTINUOUS FARMING WILL BRING ABOUT HAZARDOUS CONSEQUENCES IN LONG-TERM PERIODS. SUSTAINABLE METHODS FOR WEED CONTROLS MAY BE AN EFFECTIVE STRATEGY FOR REDUCTION OF SUCH HAZARDS. REQUIRED DATA GATHERED USING QUESTIONNAIRE FROM 78 FARMERS AND APPLYING RANDOM PROPORTIONAL AND CATEGORICAL SAMPLING METHODS IN 1387-88 CROP YEARS. IN THE PRESENT INVESTIGATION FARMERS WITH AT LEAST TWO BASIC AGRICULTURAL ACTIVITIES, SUCH AS MECHANICAL CONTROL OF WEEDS, FLAMING AND CROP ROTATION WERE CONSIDERED. RESULTS REVEALED THAT FOUR VARIABLES INCLUDING THE NUMBERS OF CONSULTATION WITH EXTENSION SPECIALIST, LAND OWNERSHIP, KNOWLEDGE OF SUSTAINABLE FARMING AND FAMILY LABORS WERE OF HIGHER IMPORTANCE IN SEPARATION OF ACCEPTANT AND NON-ACCEPTANT GROUPS.
