Abstract:

GREENHOUSE EXPERIMENT WAS CONDUCTED TO INVESTIGATE THE RESPONSE OF REDROOT PIGWEED TO POST APPLICATION OF U46 PLUS FORAMSULFURON ADMIXTURE IN TWO GROWTH STAGE OF THIS WEED. TREATMENTS CONSISTED OF FIVE DOSES (0.3, 0.6, 0.9, 1.2 AND 1.5 L/HA) AND UNTREATED CONTROL FOR U46 THAT WERE APPLIED ALONE AND IN MIXTURE WITH FORAMSULFURON AT 2 L/HA. WEEDS WERE SPRAYED AT 2-4 AND 4-6 LEAF STAGE AND PLANT DRY WEIGHTS WERE DETERMINED 4WK AFTER TREATMENTS. RESULTS INDICATED THAT MIXTURE OF THESE HERBICIDES HAVE DESIRABLE EFFECTS ON REDROOT PIGWEED IN 4-6 LEAF STAGE IN COMPARISON WITH U46 ALONE AND NEED TO UTILIZE REDUCED RATES OF U46. WHILE, APPLICATION OF U46 ALONE HAD BETTER EFFECT COMPARE TO ITS MIXTURE WITH FORAMSULFURON IN 2-4 LEAF STAGE. IN THIS GROWTH STAGE MAYBE COMMON AND RESTRICTED ENTRANCE ROUTS OF BOTH HERBICIDES IN REDROOT PIGWEED HAVE DECREASED THE RATE OF HERBICIDE ABSORPTION AND TRANSLOCATION IN MIXTURE COMPARE TO USING U46 ALONE. ALTHOUGH U46 AT THIS GROWTH STAGE WAS MORE EFFECTIVE THAN MIXTURE, WITH CONSIDERING TO THE RESISTANCE PROBLEM, IT IS BETTER TO USE OF HERBICIDE IN MIXTURE THAT COULD MAKE SATISFACTORY CONTROL.
