Abstract:

GREENHOUSE EXPERIMENTS WERE CONDUCTED IN WEED RESEARCH DEPARTMENT OF IRANIAN PLANT PROTECTION RESEARCH INSTITUTE TO EVALUATE THE EFFICACY OF METRIBUZIN IN CONTROLLING DIFFERENT NOXIOUS WEED INCLUDING RYE (SECALE CEREAL), WILD BARLEY (HORDEUM SONTANEUM) AND FOXTAIL BARLEY (HORDEUM MURINUM) IN 2007. EXPERIMENT WAS A RANDOMIZED COMPLETED BLOCK DESIGN. METRIBUZIN WAS APPLIED AT 0, 100, 178, 316 AND 562 G.HA-1 (PRE EMERGENCE APPLICATION). RESULTS INDICATED THAT METRIBUZIN DECREASED DRY MATTER OF RYE 44%. METRIBUZIN HAD A GOOD EFFECT ON WILD BARLEY AND FOXTAIL BARLEY AND IT DECREASED DRY MATTER OF MENTIONED WEED 64% AND 69%, RESPECTIVELY. SIMILAR RESULTS WERE OBTAINED FOR VISUAL EVALUATION, LEAF SURFACE AND HEIGHT.
