Abstract: 

IN ORDER TO EVALUATE THE EFFECT OF HERBICIDES ON BIOMASS AND DENSITY OF WHITE CLOVER (TRIFOLIUM REPENS), COMMON PLANTAIN (PLANTAGO MAJOR) AND LARGE CRABGRASS (DIGITARIA SANGUINALIS) IN TALL FESCUE (FESTUCA ARUNDINACEA) TURF, AN EXPERIMENT WAS CONDUCTED DURING 2006 IN TEHRAN, USING RANDOMIZED COMPLETE BLOCK DESIGN WITH 4 REPLICATIONS. TREATMENTS FOR WHITE CLOVER AND COMMON PLANTAIN CONTROL WERE 2, 4-D+MCPA (SL 72%) AT 1.5 AND 2 L/HA, DICHLRPROPP +MECOPROP-P+MCPA (SL 60%) AT 2 AND 2.5 L/HA, BROMOXYNIL +MCPA (SL 10%) AT 1.5 AND 2 L/HA, MESOSULFURON-METHYL+IIODOSULFURON-METHYL-NA (WG 6%) AT 350 AND 400 G/HA, METRIBUZINE (WP 70%) AT 750 AND 1000 G/HA AND UNTREATED CONTROL CONTROL. FOR LARGE CRABGRASS CONTROL, DICLOFOP METHYL (EC 36%) AT 2.5 AND 3 L/HA, FENOXAPROP-P-ETHYL (EW 7.5%) AT 0.8 AND 1 L/HA, CLODINAFOP PROPARGYL (EC 8%) AT 0.6 AND 0.8 L/HA TRALKOXYDIM (SC 25%) AT 1 AND 1.2 L/HA, SULFOSULFURON (DF 75%) AT 27 AND 35 G/HA, AND UNTREATED CONTROL WERE APPLIED. ALL TREATMENTS WERE REPEATED 3 TIMES DURING THE GROWTH PERIOD WEEDS. THE RESULTS SHOWED THAT 2, 4-D +MCPA, DICHLRPROP-P+ MECOPROP-P+MCPA, BROMOXYNIL+MCPA CONTROLLED WHITE CLOVER AND COMMON PLANTAIN MORE THAN 80 PERCENT AND THEY DAMAGED TURF UNDER 20 PERCENT. LARGE CRABGRASS BIOMASS WAS DECREASED BY 80 AND 55-60 PERCENT USING FENOXAPROPP- ETHYL AND CLODINAFOP PROPARGYL. OVERALL, IT COULD BE CONCLUDED THAT, 2, 4-D+MCPA AT 1.5 L/HA, DICHLRPROP-P+ MECOPROP-P+MCPA AT 2 L/HA AND BROMOXYNIL+MCPA AT 1.5 L/HA ARE SUITABLE HERBICIDES FOR WHITE CLOVER AND COMMON PLANTAIN CONTROL. FENOXAPROP-P-ETHYL AT 0.8 L/HA AND CLODINAFOP PROPARGYL AT 0.6 L/HA, ARE RECOMMENDED FOR PARTIAL CONTROL OF LARGE CRABGRASS, BECAUSE THERE WERE NO SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCES BETWEEN HERBICIDE DOSES FOR ANY HERBICIDE AND THEY DID NOT DAMAGE TALL FESCUE.
