Abstract: 

FIELD EXPERIMENT WAS CONDUCTED IN 2007 TO STUDY THE COMPARISON OF NEW AND STANDARD HERBICIDES EFFICACY AND NITROGEN MANAGEMENT ON CHINESE LANTERN PLANT (PHYSALIS ALKEKENGI L.) CONTROL IN CORN (ZEA MAYS L.) IN KOOSHKAK RESEARCH CENTER OF COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE, SHIRAZ UNIVERSITY. THE EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN WAS SPLIT-PLOT WITH A RANDOMIZED COMPLETE BLOCK ARRANGEMENT WITH THREE REPLICATIONS. THE MAIN FACTORS WERE DIFFERENT NITROGEN RATES (50, 100, 150 AND 200 KG OF PURE N HA-1) AND THE SUB FACTORS WERE HERBICIDES. HERBICIDES INCLUDED ATRAZINE PLUS ALACHLOR AT 1+2.44 AND 1.5+1.92 KG HA-1, 2, 4- D PLUS MCPA AT 0.36+0.31 AND 0.54+0.46 KG HA-1, RIMSULFURON AT 0.02 AND 0.04 KG HA-1 AND FORAMSULFURON AT 0.03 AND 0.06 KG HA-1. A WEED-FREE AND A WEEDY CHECK WERE ALSO INCLUDED IN EXPERIMENT. ACCORDING TO THE RESULTS, FORAMSULFURON AND ATRAZINE PLUS ALACHLOR AT TWO APPLIED DOSAGES CAN SATISFACTORILY CONTROL PHYSALIS ALKEKENGI, BUT RIMSULFURON AND 2, 4- D PLUS MCPA AT TWO APPLIED DOSAGES FAILED TO CONTROL PHYSALIS ALKEKENGI. IN ADDITION, WEED DRY MATTER AND DENSITY INCREASED AT HIGHER NITROGEN LEVELS.
