Abstract: 

HARVEST TIME WEEDS ARE ONE OF YIELD REDUCING FACTORS IN OILSEED RAPE PRODUCTION. AN EXPERIMENT WAS CARRIED OUT TO TEST THE EFFECT OF THREE DOSES OF PARAQUAT AT THREE DIFFERENT PHYSIOLOGICAL MATURITY STAGES OF OILSEED RAPE DURING 2006-2007 IN MAZANDARAN AND LORESTAN PROVINCES. THE EXPERIMENT WAS ARRANGED AS FACTORIAL IN RANDOMIZED COMPLETE BLOCK DESIGN WITH 3 REPLICATIONS AND 10 TREATMENTS. FACTOR 1 INCLUDED APPLICATION OF 1.5, 2 AND 3 L/HA OF PARAQUAT (20% SL.). FACTOR 2 CONSISTED OF THREE PHYSIOLOGICAL MATURITY STAGES OF EARLY, ON TIME AND LATE. THERE WAS ALSO A CHECK TREATMENT WITH NO HERBICIDE APPLICATION. FOR PRACTICAL PURPOSES, EACH PLOT WAS 50 M2. RESULTS INDICATED THAT ALL PARAQUAT TREATMENTS CONTROLLED WEEDS SATISFACTORILY AND THERE WAS NO SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE AMONG DOSES OF PARAQUAT OR TIME OF APPLICATION. IT WAS, THEREFORE RECOMMENDED THAT 1.5 L/HA OF PARAQUAT APPLIED AT EARLY PHYSIOLOGICAL MATURITY OF OILSEED RAPE, IS THE MOST SUITABLE TREATMENT TO CONTROL PREHARVEST WEED INFESTATIONS.
