Abstract: 

EFFICACY OF PARAQUAT APPLIED PREEMERGENCE IN STALE SEED BED METHOD FOR COMMON BEAN WEED MANAGEMENT WAS EVALUATED IN A RCBD DESIGN BY SPLIT PLOT ARRANGEMENT WITH 3 REPLICATES IN KHORRAMABAD LORESTAN IN 2009. CROP SEED RATE AT 3 LEVELS (100, 150, AND 200 KG/HA) WAS ALLOCATED TO MAIN PLOT, AND WEED MANAGEMENT FACTOR AT 7 LEVELS (1- TRIFLURALIN APPLIED PPI, 2-PARAQUAT APPLIER PRE, 3-STORM APPLIED POST, 4-TRIFLURALIN APPLIED PPI+STORM APPLIED POST, 5-PARAQUAT APPLIED PRE+STORM APPLIED POST, 6-WEEDING, AND 7-WEEDY CONTROL) WAS ATTRIBUTED TO SUBPLOT. WEED DENSITY WAS REDUCED 16 AND 24 % AND WEED BIOMASS WAS REDUCED 10 AND 50 % AS COMMON BEAN SEED RATE INCREASED FROM 100 TO 150 AND 200 KG/HA RESPECTIVELY. AMONG HERBICIDE TREATMENTS THE LOWEST LEVEL OF WEED DENSITY (18 PLANTS/M2) WAS BELONGED TO PARAQUAT APPLIED PRE+STORM APPLIED POST, WHICH REDUCED WEED DENSITY BY 68 % IN COMPARISON TO WEEDY CONTROL. TRIFLURALIN APPLIED PPI+ STORM APPLIED POST, PARAQUAT APPLIED PRE+STORM APPLIED POST, AND STORM APPLIED POST ALONE, REDUCED WEED BIOMASS 83, 82, AND 70 % RESPECTIVELY.
