Abstract:

IN ORDER TO STUDY THE POSSIBILITY OF WEED AND BROOMRAPE CONTROL IN TOMATO FIELDS, USING HERBICIDES AND NITROGEN FERTILIZERS, AN EXPERIMENT WAS CONDUCTED AT SAVOJBOLAGH. A RANDOMIZED COMPLETE BLOCK DESIGN WITH A SPLIT PLOT LAYOUT WAS USED, WITH 4 REPLICATIONS. NITROGEN FERTILIZERS CONSIST OF AMMONIUM SULPHATE AT 500 KG/HA AND UREA AT 200 KG/HA AS THE MAIN PLOTS. APPLICATION OF POST EMERGENCE HERBICIDES (RIMSULFURON AT 30, 60 G/HA, METHSULFURON METHYL+ SULFOSULFURON AT 40 G/HA, GLYPHOSATE AT 50 ML/HA, SULFOSULFURON AT 25, 50 G/HA) WERE THE SUB PLOTS. TWO CHECK TREATMENTS WITH NO FERTILIZER AND HERBICIDE APPLICATION WERE USED IN MAIN PLOTS AND SUBPLOTS RESPECTIVELY. ALL HERBICIDES WERE USED 30, 40, 50 DAYS AFTER TOMATO TRANSPLANTING IN FIELDS. THE FERTILIZERS APPLIED IN PREPLANTING, FIRST FLOWERING AND FIRST FROUTING. THE RESULTS SHOWED GLYPHOSATE AT 50 ML/HA HAD BEST CONTROL OF BROOMRAPE (OROBANCHE AEGYPTIACA L.) BUT RIMSULFURON AT 30 AND 60 G/HA, SULFOSULFURON AT 25 AND 50 G/HA HAD NO EFFECT ON BROOMRAPE CONTROL, ABOUT WEEDS RESULTS SHOWED METHSULFURON METHYL+SULFOSULFURON AT 40 G/HA HAD BEST CONTROL OF WEEDS AND BROOMRAPE BUT CAUSED 20% LOSSES ON TOMATO PLANTS. SULFOSULFURON AT 50 G/HA HAD SUITABLE CONTROL OF WEEDS AND HAD NO EFFECT ON TOMATO PLANTS THEN CONSEQUENTLY RIMSULFRON AT 60 G/HA, SULFOSULFURON AT 25 G/HA, RIMSULFURON AT 30 G/HA HAD CAUSED THE REDUSE OF DAMAGING WEEDS. APPLICATION OF UREA AND AMMONIUM SULPHATE WITH AND WITHOUT HERBICIDE HAD NO EFFECT ON CONTROL OF BROOMRAPE AND WEEDS.
