Abstract: 

IN ORDER TO EVALUATE THE EFFECTS OF PLANT DENSITY & LENTIL CULTIVARS IN WEED CONTROL EFFICACY AN EXPERIMENT IN A FACTORIAL DESIGN BASED ON COMPLETE BLOCK DESIGN WITH THREE REPLICATIONS WAS PERFORMED IN AGRICULTURAL FARM OF TEHRAN UNIVERSITY AT KARAJ IN 2008. THE TREATMENTS PLANT DENSITY AT FOUR LEVELS (80, 160, 240, 320 PLANT/M2) AND LENTIL CULTIVARS (ZIBA, MARDOM) WERE SELECTED. WITH AN INCREASE PLANT DENSITY, NUMBER OF BRANCHES AND POD PER PLANT, SEED & BIOLOGICAL YIELD AND HARVEST INDEX INCREASED. THE DENSITY OF 240 PLANTS/M2 WAS THE OPTIMAL DENSITY AND PRODUCED THE HIGHEST YIELDS. BETWEEN LENTIL CULTIVARS ZIBA & MARDOM FOR VARIOUS AGRONOMIC TRAITS SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCES WERE FOUND. WITH INCREASING PLANT DENSITY THE WEED DRY MATTER DECREASED& WEED CONTROL EFFICACY INCREASED SIGNIFICANTLY AT 240 PLANTS/M2.
