Abstract: 

IN ORDER TO EVALUATE THE ABILITY OF DIFFERENT BEAN CULTIVARS TO COMPETE WITH WEEDS, A RESEARCH WAS CARRIED OUT USING A THREE FACTORIAL SPLIT PLOT EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN IN THE BASE OF RANDOMIZED COMPLETE BLOCKS DURING 2006 - 2007 AT RESEARCH FIELDS OF ZANJAN AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH AND NATURAL RESOURCE CENTER. IN THIS RESEARCH THREE BEAN CULTIVARS; SAYYAD, DERAKHSHAN AND A LOCAL WERE CONSIDERED THE FIST FACTOR, TWO PLANTING ROW DISTANCES; 20 AND 30 CM AS THE SECOND FACTOR AND FOUR PLANTING DENSITY; 20, 30, 40 AND 50 PLANT PER METER SQUARE AS THE THIRD FACTOR WERE CONSIDERED. RESULTS SHOWED THAT FOR THREE MAIN INDEXES FOR TOLERANCE; MP, GMP AND STI, LOCAL RED BEAN IN THREE TREATMENTS INCLUDING 30*30 (PLANTING ROW DISTANCES* PLANTING DENSITY), 40*30, AND 40*20 HAD THE MAXIMUM TOLERANCE TO THE WEEDS. BASED ON TWO INDEXES; TOL AND SSI, SAYYAD AND DERAKHSHAN CULTIVARS WITH TWO TREATMENTS 40 *30 AND 50*20 WERE SELECTED RESPECTIVELY. BASED ON OVERALL TOLERANCE INDEXES, LOCAL BEAN GENOTYPE WITH THREE TREATMENTS; 30*30, 40*30 AND 40*20 WERE SELECTED RESPECTIVELY. THE BEST PLANTING ROW DISTANCES FOR THE LOCAL ACCESSION WAS 30CM AND THE BEST DENSITY WAS EVALUATED 40 PLANTS PER CM3.
