Abstract: 

IN ORDER TO STUDY THE COMPETITIVE ABILITY OF SEVEN CULTIVARS OF TEMPERATE ZONE WHEAT GENOTYPES WHICH HAVE BEEN INTRODUCED OVER THE LAST 15 YEARS OR ARE BEING INTRODUCED TO DEVELOP THEIR CULTIVATION, A TRIAL WAS CONDUCTED UNDER FARM CONDITIONS AT MIYANDOAB AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH STATION IN 1387. THE EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN WAS FACTORIAL ARRANGED IN RCB WITH 4 REPLICATIONS. THE TREATMENTS WERE; A (SEVEN TEMPERATE ZONE WHEAT GENOTYPES) AND B (TWO LEVELS OF RYE WEED, B1: NO-WEED; B2: WITH RYE).THE RESULTS SHOWED THAT THE GENOTYPE M79.7 AS THE STRONG COMPETITOR CULTIVAR DECREASES THE BIOLOGICAL YIELD OF RYE GREATER THAN THE REST OF THE CULTIVARS WHILE THE GENOTYPES MARVDASHT AND M81.13 AS THE WEAK COMPETITOR CULTIVARS DECREASE THE LIFE-MASS OF RYE AT THE TIME OF COMPETITION LESS THAN THE OTHERS.
