FERTILIZER AND HERBICIDE MANAGEMENT IN CROPPING SYSTEMS MAY BE IMPORTANT COMPONENTS OF INTEGRATED WEED MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS. IN ORDER TO EVALUATE THE EFFECT OF FERTILIZER AND HERBICIDE MANAGEMENT ON WEED POPULATION, A SPLIT PLOT-FACTORIAL EXPERIMENT WAS ARRANGED IN A RANDOMIZED COMPLETE BLOCK DESIGN WITH FOUR REPLICATIONS IN 2008 AT THE RESEARCH STATION OF PLANT PROTECTION RESEARCH INSTITUTE, TEHRAN, VARAMIN. TREATMENTS INCLUDED TWO APPLICATION METHODS OF NITROGEN FERTILIZER (BROADCAST & BANDED) IN THE MAIN PLOTS; NITROGEN FERTILIZER AT THREE LEVELS (300, 400, 500 KG/HA) AND NICOSULFURON HERBICIDE AT FOUR RATES (0, 1, 1.5, 2 LIT/HA) IN THE SUBPLOTS. WEED BIOMASS AND DENSITY THROUGHOUT THE GROWING SEASON WERE GREATER FROM BROADCASTING METHOD THAN FROM BANDED APPLICATION.
