Abstract: 

FOR COMPARING SAMPLING METHODS TO ESTIMATE SEED BANK POPULATION AND SEEDLING WEED POPULATION IN FIELD, AN EXPERIMENT WAS DONE AT RESEARCH FROM OF KARAJ AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE IN 2007. IN THIS EXPERIMENT, SEED BANK SAMPLING WAS DONE AT THE BEGINNING OF SEASON AND WEED POPULATION DURING THE SEASON FROM 96 QUADRATS BY USING GIRDING METHOD. THE AVERAGE OBTAINED FROM THIS METHOD WAS CONSIDERED AS A BASIC AVERAGE. THEN, IN ORDER TO COMPARE OTHER METHODS WITH GIRDING METHOD, SAMPLING IN Z SHAPE, DIAGONAL AND RANDOM METHODS WAS COMPLETELY RANDOMLY PERFORMED (IN FACTORIAL FORM). THE FIRST FACTOR WAS WEED SPECIES INCLUDING GRASS, AMARANTHUS RETROFLEXUS AND PROTULACA OLERACEAE AND THE SECOND FACTOR WAS SAMPLING METHOD INCLUDING Z SHAPE, RANDOM AND DIAGONAL. THE SEED BANK RESULTS AND SEED POPULATION RESULTS WAS DIFFERENT. IN SEED BANK, THERE IS NO SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENT AMONG SAMPLING METHODS WITHOUT CONSIDERATION OF SPECIES. WHEREAS RANDOM METHOD INDICATED MINIMUM ERROR OF ESTIMATION FOR GRASSES AND PROTULACA OLERACEAE .IN ADDITION TO THERE WAS NOT ANY DIFFERENT BETWEEN SAMPLING METHODS FOR AMARANTHUS RETROFLEXUS SPECIES FOR PURPOSES OF ACCURACY ESTIMATION. FOR POPULATION WEED SEEDLING, RANDOM WAS BEST METHOD FOR AMARANTHUS RETROFLEXUS AND PROTULACA OLERACEAE AND ZIGZAG METHOD WAS BEST FOR GRASSES.
