Abstract: 

IN ORDER TO EVALUATING THE EFFECT OF FLOODING, PLANTING DEPTH, TEMPERATURE AND LIGHT ON SEED GERMINATION AND EMERGENCE OF WILD LETTUCE THREE SERIES EXPERIMENTS WERE DONE IN WEED LABORATORY OF FERDOWSI MASHHAD UNIVERSITY. PLANTING DEPTH WERE 0, 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5, 4, 4.5, 5, 5.5 AND 6 CM. FLOODING HAD TWO FACTORS INCLUDING FLOODING TIME (0-4 WEEKS) AND FLOODING DEPTH (2 AND 12 CM). TEMPERATURE EXPERIMENT WAS DONE FROM 5ΟC TO 40ΟC IN BOTH OF LIGHT AND DARKNESS. THESE EXPERIMENTS HAD FACTORIAL ARRANGEMENTS WITH FOUR REPLICATIONS IN A COMPLETELY RANDOMIZED DESIGN. RESULT SHOWED THAT EMERGENCE PERCENT, RADICLE AND HYPOCOTYL LENGTH AND GERMINATION PERCENT WERE AFFECTED BY PLANTING DEPTH, FLOODING AND TIME OF DEPTH AND THEIR RECIPROCAL EFFECT, ALSO TEMPERATURE AND LIGHT AND THEIR RECIPROCAL EFFECT RESPECTIVELY. THE MOST EMERGENCES WERE ON 0-2.5 CM. FOUR WEEKS FLOODING LEAD TO SEED DEATH. ALSO GERMINATION WAS OBSERVED IN BOTH OF DEPTHS. THE MOST GERMINATION WAS ON 5ΟC AND LIGHT LEAD TO MORE GERMINATION IN HIGHER TEMPERATURES THAN 5ΟC.
