Abstract: 

RIVER ECOSYSTEMS ARE OF PARAMOUNT IMPORTANCE NATURAL RESOURCES BECAUSE OF ITS ROLE TO HUMAN’S ACTIVITIES AND HEALTH, SUSTAINABLE ECONOMIC GROWTH AND ECOLOGICAL INTEGRITY. ON THE OTHER HANDS, SAND AND GRAVEL IN BED RIVERS ARE OF GREAT IMPORTANCE RESOURCES FOR HUMAN’S USE IN MANY OF CIVIL ACTIVITIES.
SAND AND GRAVEL EXTRACTION FROM RIVERS BED HAVE EXTREMELY IMPACTS ON THE ECOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF THE RIVER ECOSYSTEMS AND LEADS TO DIVERSE NEGATIVE CONSEQUENCES. THERE ARE FOLLOWING WAYS OF SUCH IMPACTS: 1) PHYSICAL DISTURBANCE OF RIVER-BEDS; 2) CHEMICAL AND HEAVY METAL POLLUTION; 3) THERMAL POLLUTION; 4) HABITAT DEGRADATION; 5) WILDLIFE EXTINCTION; 6) DECREASE IN DISSOLVE OXYGEN; 7) DECREASE IN SELF-PURIFICATION OF RIVERS.
