Abstract: 

INAPPROPRIATE CORROSION INHIBITION OF ZINC PHOSPHATE COMPARED TO CHROMATES LEAD TO THE CREATION OF NEW GENERATIONS OF ZINC PHOSPHATE PIGMENTS. THESE GENERATIONS WERE CREATED BY MODIFICATION OR REPLACEMENT OF THE CATIONIC OR ANIONIC PARTS OF ZINC PHOSPHATE. IN THIS ARTICLE, THE EFFECT OF SODIUM ON STRUCTURE AND ANTICORROSION PROPERTIES OF ZINC PHOSPHATE PIGMENTS HAS BEEN INVESTIGATED. THE CO-PRECIPITATION METHOD WAS SELECTED AS THE SYNTHESIS METHOD OF SODIUM ZINC PHOSPHATE PIGMENT. THEN THE SYNTHESIZED PIGMENT WAS IDENTIFIED BY X-RAY DIFFRACTION. ON THE FOLLOWING, MORPHOLOGY WAS INVESTIGATED WITH SCANNING ELECTRON MICROSCOPE. THE INHIBITIVE EFFICIENCY OF THIS PIGMENT COMPARING TO THE COMMERCIAL ZINC PHOSPHATE PIGMENT, VIA PREPARING THE PIGMENT SATURATED SOLUTION IN A 3.5 % NACL SOLUTION, WERE EVALUATED BY ELECTRO CHEMICAL IMPEDANCE SPECTROSCOPY. THE PRESENTED PERFORMED RELATED RESULTS, INDICATES THE BETTER CORROSION INHIBITIVE PERFORMANCE OF MODIFIED ZINC PHOSPHATE (SODIUM ZINC PHOSPHATE) IN COMPARISON WITH THE COMMERCIAL ZINC PHOSPHATE.
