Abstract: 

HETEROGENEOUS PHOTOCATALYSIS IS AN EFFECTIVE TREATMENT METHOD FOR THE REMOVAL OF TOXIC POLLUTANTS FROM INDUSTRIAL WASTEWATERS. THIS STUDY INVESTIGATED THE PHOTO-DEGRADATION MECHANISMS OF 2-BENZYLE-4-CHLOROPHENOL AS AN EMERGING POLLUTANT BY COMMERCIAL TITANIUM DIOXIDES (TIO2-P25) IN PHOTOCATALYTIC REACTOR. THE EFFECTS OF OPERATING CONDITIONS SUCH AS BCP INITIAL CONCENTRATION, CATALYST LOADING, AND PH VALUE ON THE REMOVAL EFFICIENCY WERE EVALUATED. THE RESULTS OF EXPERIMENTS INDICATED THAT THE OPTIMUM CONCENTRATION OF BCP AND TIO2 INCREASE THE TIME OF OXIDATION AND INVERSE. ACCORDING TO EXPERIMENTAL DATA, PHOTO DEGRADATION OF BCP CAN BE SIMULATED UNDER THE IRRADIATION OF ULTRAVIOLET-C LIGHT (UVC: 254 NM) AND THE PRESENCE OF TIO2 BY USING PSEUDO-FIRST-ORDER REACTION RATE. THE OPTIMUM CONDITIONS WERE OBTAINED WITH INITIAL CONCENTRATION RANGING FROM 10-100 MG/L, AND TIO2 DOSING RANGING FROM 0.05-0.5 G/L IN THE PRESENCE OF THREE UV-C LAMPS(6W) FOR UV/TIO2 SYSTEM(OPTIMUM [BCP:50MG/L], TIO2:0.1G/L AND PH:7). THE APPARENT RATE CONSTANT FOR PH=7 AND TIO2:0.1G/L WAS K=0.058, K=0.0834 RESPECTIVELY.
FINALLY, IT CAN BE CONCLUDED THAT UV/TIO2 PROCESS CAN BE USED SUCCESSFULLY FOR THE TREATMENT OF EMERGING POLLUTANT, 2-BENZYLE-4-CHLOROPHENOL FROM AQUEOUS SOLUTIONS.
