Abstract: 

REGARDING TO THE INCREASING USE OF FOSSIL ENERGY ESPECIALLY OIL AND GAS, LACK OF RESOURCES AND RAISING THEIR PRICES, BETTER MANAGEMENT OF RESERVOIRS AND WELLS, INCREASING AND OPTIMIZING PRODUCTION IS THE OBJECT OF NEW STUDIES. CONSIDERING THAT MOST DEVELOPED RESERVOIRS ARE IN THE SECOND HALF OF THEIR LIFE AND MOST OF THEM PRODUCING UNDER PRIMARY PRODUCTION MECHANISM, IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT THE MOST EFFICIENT USE OF THESE ENERGIES CAN BE PERFORMED. THE PURPOSE OF THIS STUDY WAS TO FIND THE OPTIMUM VALUE OF EFFECTIVE PARAMETERS ON PRODUCTION TO ACHIEVE MAXIMUM POSSIBLE CUMULATIVE PRODUCTION WITH THE LOWEST COST AND ENERGY REGARDING THE POTENTIAL RESOURCE OF RESERVOIR. SIMPLE MODEL OF WELL CONSISTING OF A TUBING AND A CHOKE WAS CONSIDERED. FOR OPTIMIZING THIS MODEL, THE SIZE OF TUBING AND CHOCK BEAN SIZE WERE DETERMINED SIMULTANEOUSLY DUE TO THE DEPENDENCY OF THESE PARAMETERS TOGETHER TO CONTROL THE VELOCITY, FLOW REGIMES, WELL HEAD PRESSURE AND FLOW RATE INTO WELL AND MINIMIZE PRESSURE LOSS IN THE SYSTEM. FOR OPTIMIZATION THE HARMONY SEARCH ALGORITHM WAS USED. THIS ALGORITHM IS ONE OF THE HEURISTIC ALGORITHMS. THE ALGORITHMS WERE WRITTEN IN MATLAB PROGRAMMING ENVIRONMENT AND WERE APPLIED ON THE MODEL. AS A FINAL STEP THE METHOD HAS BEEN IMPLEMENTED ON REAL CASE STUDIES. COMPARING THE RESULTS WITH THE RESULTS OF SIMULATION SOFTWARE (I.E. PIPESIM) SHOWS THE EFFICIENCY OF THE MODEL IN OBTAINING OPTIMUM VALUES OF WELL PARAMETERS SIMULTANEOUSLY.
