Abstract: 

THE PURPOSE OF THIS STUDY IS EVALUATION CAP ROCK AND RESERVOIR CAPABILITY OF GURPI FORMATION IN ONE OIL FIELD LOCATED IN DEZFUL EMBAYMENT USING DRILLED WELL DATA AS WELL AS NEARBY FIELD DATA. ZONATION OF THIS FORMATION HAS BEEN CARRIED OUT USING PETROPHYSICSL LOGS SUCH AS GAMA, SONIC, NPHIE AND RHOB LOGS AS WELL AS USING POROSITY AND WATER SATURATION RANGE. THEN GURPI FORMATION WAS DIVIDED INTO TWO ZONES INCLUDING OF GU_Z1 AND GU_Z2. GU_Z1 IS CONSIDERED AS A CAPROCK BECAUSE LACK OF EFFECT POROSITY AND PERMABILITY AND HAVING HIGH CLAY PERCENTAGE WHEREAS GU_Z2 IS ASSUMED AS A RESERVOIR ROCK BECAUSE HAVING HIGH POROSITY AND PERMABILITY. IN THIS STUDY, THE STRUCTURAL MODEL OF THE FIELD WAS CONSTRUCTED USING IRAP-RMS SOFTWARE AND THEN PROPERTY MODELING OF POROSITY AND SW WERE DONE AFTER CONSTRUCTING 3_D GRID. FINALLY NTG MODEL WAS MADE USING CUTOFF FOR POROSITY AND SW. BASED ON THIS STUDY, GU-Z1 AS A CAP ROCK DOES NOT HAVE CONSIDERABLE OIL IN PLACE, WHEREAS, GU-Z2 HAS MUCH OIL POTENTIAL SO CASSUMED AS A RESEROIR ROCK. THIS STUDY SHOWS POROSITY AND SW DISTRIBUTION IS WELL CORRELATED BY NEARBY FILEDS.
