Abstract: 

PROPANE SWEETENING PROCESS IN FIFTH REFINERY OF SOUTH PARS GAS COMPLEX IS DONE BY CAUSTIC WASH AND SWEET PROPANE AFTER DEHYDRATION IN DRYERS IS STORED FOR SALE OR INJECT TO IGAT. RICH CAUSTIC REGENERATE BY OXIDATION PROCESS IN PRESENCE OF CATALYST AND THEN COME BACK TO EXTRACTION SECTION. THIS PROCESS IS A CONTINUES PROCESS IN REFINERY, BUT BECAUSE THE PUMP THAT SEND CAUSTIC TO EXTRACTOR FAILED, PROPANE WAS SENT TO FLARE BEFORE ENTERING SWEETENING UNIT. DURING THIS STUDY PROPANE EXTRACTOR FILLED WITH CAUSTIC AND PUT IN SERVICE IN SEMI CONTINUES PROCESS (ONLY PROPANE PASS THE EXTRACTOR). PROPANE TOTAL SULPHUR AND CAUSTIC RSNA MEASURED DURING THIS PROJECT. TEST RESULTS SHOW THAT IN THE CASE OF ANY PROBLEM TO SENT LEAN CAUSTIC TO PROPANE EXTRACTOR, SWEETENING CAN BE DONE IN SEMI CONTINUES PROCESS TO PREVENT LOSS OF PROPANE AND ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION. AFTER CAUSTIC SATURATION, IT CAN BE SENT TO REGENERATION CYCLE TO PREVENT LOSS OF CAUSTIC.
