Abstract: 

DUE TO TOUGH AND IMPERMEABLE PERICARP, TILIA SEEDS HAVE LOW VIGOR GERMINATION. THE AIM OF THIS STUDY WAS TO DETERMINE THE EFFECT OF SOME SCARIFICATION AND LIGHT TREATMENTS ON SEED GERMINATION. IN THIS RESEARCH THE EFFECTIVENESS OF NINE PRE TREATMENTS INCLUDING SULFURIC ACID (H2SO4) WITH TWO CONCENTRATIONS: 15% AND 30%, NITRIC ACID (HNO3) WITH TWO CONCENTRATIONS: 15% AND 30%, HYDROGEN PEROXIDE (H2O2), HOT WATER, AND TWO LIGHT TREATMENTS (LIGHT AND SHADOW) ON TILIA SEEDS WAS INVESTIGATED. AFTER EACH TREATMENT SEED WERE EXPOSURE IN SAND RIVER AND SAWDUST FOR STRATIFICATION. THEN COLD STRATIFICATION UNDER WET SAND WAS PERFORMED FOR SEEDS DURING 6-8 MONTH. SEED WERE REMINDED IN STRATIFY UNTIL EMERGENCE OF RADICLE. AT ONCE EXIST THE RADICLE; SEEDS WERE CULTURED IN BAG PLASTIC VASE IN AIR. IN CONCLUSION RESULTS SHOWED THAT BEST GERMINATION RATE BELONGED TO HYDROGEN PEROXIDE 1% FOR 40 MIN WITH SAND BED AND RESULTED IN SIGNIFICANTLY PERCENT GERMINATION THAN ALL THE OTHER TREATMENTS AND THE SEED THAT WERE CULTURED IN SHADE HAVE HIGHER VIGOR GROWTH.
