Abstract: 

IN THIS STUDY WE INVESTIGATED CHANGES IN SPECIES COMPOSITION, DENSITY, SPECIES DIVERSITY, RICHNESS AND EVENNESS ALONG A PREVIOUSLY STUDIED GRAZING GRADIENT IN SEPTIC RANGELAND OF IRAN, YAZD PROVINCE (NODUSHAN). FOR THIS RESEARCH USED COMPLETELY RANDOMIZED BLOCK DESIGN. SAMPLING WAS PERFORMANCE WITH USING STRATIFIED- SYSTEMATIC-RANDOM SAMPLING SCHEME. ON EACH PLOTS (2M2) ESTIMATED CANOPY COVER PERCENTAGE OF EACH PLANT SPECIES AND DENSITY FOR INVESTIGATION OF GRAZING INTENSITY ON SPECIES COMPOSITION, WAS ESTIMATED AS THE PERCENTAGE OF THE CANOPY COVER OF DOMINANCE SPECIES (ARTEMISIA SIEBERI), PLATABLE SPECIES, UNPLATABLE SPECIES, INVADER SPECIES AND TOTAL CANOPY COVER. SPECIES DIVERSITY WAS MEASURED BY CALCULATING DIVERSITY (SHANNON-WEANER AND SIMPSON INFORMATION INDEX), EVENNESS (PIELOU INDEX), RICHNESS (SPECIES NUMBER IN THE EACH SITE) AND DENSITY (PERENNIAL PLANT NUMBER IN THE EACH UNITE AREA). ANALYSIS OF DATA WERE CARRIED OUT USING SPSS 11.5 STATISTICAL PACKAGES. IN THIS STUDY RESULTS SHOWN, SPECIES COMPOSITION IS MORE SENSITIVE THAN THE SPECIES DIVERSITY AND DENSITY TO GRAZING TREATMENTS. FOR MONITORING OF ANIMAL GRAZING AND SIMPSON INDEX BETTER THAN THE SHANNON INDEX.
