Abstract:

INVESTIGATION TO IDENTIFY SOFT SCALE INSECTS ON AMYGDALUS SCOPARIA SPACH AND THEIR NATURAL ENEMIES WAS CARRIED OUT IN MIAN-JANGLE OF FASA (FARS PROVINCE-IRAN) DURING 2007. RESULTS SHOWED THAT ONE SPECIES WAS ACTIVE ON A.
SCOPARIA NAMED SPHAEROLECANIUM PRUNASTRI (BOYER DE FONSCOLOMBE) (HEMIPTERA, COCCIDAE). THE DAMAGE OF THE PEST HAS INCREASED ON WILD ALMOND TREES IN MIAN-JANGLE OF FASA DURING RECENT YEARS. HIGH REPRODUCTIVE POTENTIAL AND WIDE DISTRIBUTION OF PEST AND CHEMICAL CONTROL PROBLEMS HAVE LED TO A GREATER NEED TO USE NATURAL ENEMIES AS IPM PROGRAMS. THREE PARASITOID WASPS, TWO HYPERPARASITOIDS AND THREE PREDATORS WERE IDENTIFIED ON S. PRUNASTRI AS FOLLOWED:
PARASITOIDS:
HYMENOPTERA, APHELINIDAE, COCCOPHAGINAE
1- COCCOPHAGUS SEMICIRCULARIS (FÖRSTER, 1841)
HYMENOPTERA, ENCYRTIDAE, DISCOIDINI
2- DISCODES COCCOPHAGUS (RATZEBURG, 1848)
3- MICROTERYS DROSICHAPHAGUS XU, 2002
HYPERPARASITOIDS:
HYMENOPTERA, APHELINIDAE
4- MARIETTA PICTA (ANDRE, 1878)
HYMENOPTERA, PTEROMALIDAE
5- PACHYNEURON MUSCARUM (LINNAEUS, 1758)
PREDATORS:
COLEOPTERA, COCCINELLIDAE, CHILOCORINAE
6- EXOCHOMUS QUADRIPUSTULATUS (LINNAEUS, 1758)
7- EXOCHOMUS UNDULATUS WEISE, 1878
8- CHILOCORUS BIPUSTULATUS (LINNAEUS, 1758)
ACCORDING TO THE LITERATURES, DISCODES COCCOPHAGUS (RATZEBURG, 1848) IS NEW RECORD AS GENUS AND SPECIES LEVEL AND MICROTERYS DROSICHAPHAGUS IS NEW SPECIES RECORD FOR IRANIAN FAUNA. THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THESE PARASITOIDS AND THEIR PLANT HOST, A. SCOPARIA, ARE NEWLY REPORTED. FAUNA OF NATURAL ENEMIES ON S. PRUNASTRI IN MIAN-JANGLE WILD ALMOND TREES IS SO RICH AND COULD CONTROL THE PEST.
