Abstract:

IN THIS PAPER, EFFECTS OF AGRICULTURAL RISK MANAGEMENT POLICIES ON FARMERS' AVERSION TO RISK AS WELL AS THEIR INCOME EQUITY WERE DISCUSSED. THEN, USING THE GINI INDEX, EFFECTS OF CURRENT AGRICULTURAL INSURANCE POLICIES ON FARMERS' INCOME EQUITY WERE EVALUATED. ALSO, AGRICULTURAL CROP INSURANCE DEMAND FUNCTION AND FARMERS' AVERSION TOWARD RISK WERE ESTIMATED BY USING THE GOODWIN MODEL AND ELCE METHOD, RESPECTIVELY. FARMERS DATA FOR THE CURRENT STUDY WERE DRAWING OUT FROM 170 FARMERS OF FASA REGION, IN FARS PROVINCE, WHO WERE SELECTED BY A STRATIFIED RANDOM SAMPLING METHOD. RESULTS OF THE STUDY REVEALED THAT, AGRICULTURAL CROP INSURANCE INCOME HAS POSITIVE EFFECT ON ENHANCING THE FARMERS' INCOME EQUITY AND DECREASING THEIR DEGREE OF RISK AVERSION. ALSO, AREA UNDER WHEAT, RATIO OF INDEMNITY PAYMENT TO INSURANCE PREMIUM, FARMER'S AGE, LEVEL OF EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OWNERSHIP HAVE POSITIVE EFFECTS ON DEMAND FOR AGRICULTURAL INSURANCE.
