Abstract: 

In this research the possibility of reducing iron impurity in feldspar samples of Chogha-ee deposit (southwest of Hamadan) was investigated. The iron content of the ore is to such an extent that inhibits the use of mineral in applications such as glass and ceramics. According to recent technology, the iron reduction of such ores up to 0.2% Fe2O3 has become a common practice. Experiments determined the physical properties of the ore such as specific gravity and work index a 2.61 and 10.9 KWh/t respectively. In order to obtain the required liberation degree of the feldspar particles, ore grinding up to 80% finer than 150 microns was necessary, after which slime removal applied to separate less than 10 microns fraction. Among the processing tests including magnetic separation, desliming and flotation, the combination of the two latter processes after ore grinding were detected as the most efficient circuit. Among different flotation chemicals used in the experiments, sulfuric acid (as pH modifier), Aero801 and Aero805 (as collectors) and pine oil (as frother) were found to be the most suitable chemicals to float the ore in a pH conditions 2.5-3. The final result of the whole processing tests showed the possibility of achieving a feldspare concentrate containing 0.1 % Fe2O3 and weighing about 69.3 % of the feed weight.
