Abstract: 

Transfer and accumulation of ion chloride in the leaching process of Sarcheshmeh Copper Complex has been studied. Regarding the neutralization cost of the wastewater of sulfuric acid plant (which is currently being constructed) and also for the purpose of reducing acid usage cost, using the wastewater sulfuric acid plant in heap leach process was proposed. The wastewater contained 30 mgr/lit ion chloride, which can cause some problems in electrowining process. The paths in which this ion were entered, existed and accumulated in the circuites of leachant, organic and electrolyte phases, were identified and masured. It was concluded that soil adsorption of chloride was 1gr/ton. Mass balance equations were written and analyzed for the system circuits (in steady and unsteady states) and for the time the wastewater added to leachant. The admissible concentration of chloride ion was considered 25 mgr/lit in electrolyte and according to the model, following the addition of sulfuric acid plant wastewater; chloride ion will increase to 25.3 mgr/lit after 6 days operation.
