Abstract: 

METHODS & MATERIALS: 1108 RENAL TRANSPLANTATION WAS DONE IN BAGHIYATALLAH HOSPITAL FROM LIVING DONOR BETWEEN 1992-2001.95 PATIENTS HAD PRE TRANSPLANT DIABETES MELLITUS (STUDY GROUP) AND 1013 PATIENTS WERE NON DIABETIC (CONTROL GROUP). THE MEAN FOLLOW-UP PERIOD WAS 27.3 MONTHS.
RESULTS: OVERALL MORTALITY RATE WAS 38 (3.42%). ONE PATIENT IN DIABETIC GROUP (1.1%) AND 37 PATIENTS FROM CONTROL GROUP (3.7%). (P=0.245). SURGICAL COMPLICATIONS OCCURRED IN 11 OF DIABETIC GROUP (11.07%) AND 32 OF NON DIABETIC GROUP (3.15%). (P<0.001)
