Abstract: 

At the filtration circuit of the Zarand coal washing plant, the flotation concentrate is filtered in order to meet the required moisture for shipping. Since 85% of the concentrate is smaller than 0.5 mm, vacuum disk filters are used. The feed to filtration circuit contains more than 50% particles smaller than 75. A dewatering aid (Aerodri 104) was used in various concentration (250, 300, 350, 400 g/t) to further reduce the final concentrate moisture. The results of tests showed that 400 g/t with cake thickness of 7.5 mm and reduction of 1.3% in moisture had a higher performance compared to the other dosages. When 400g/t of dewatering aid was added in the plant for a period one working shift, the thickness of cake increased by 5.1 mm and the moisture reduced by 1%.
