Abstract:

OBJECTIVES: TO ASSESS THE RELIABILITY, COSMESIS AND COMPLICATION RATE OF THE GLANS APPROXIMATION PROCEDURE (G.A.P.) THIS PROSPECTIVE STUDY WAS PERFORMED.
METHODS: WE PERFORMED 26 G.A. . URETHROPLASTIES AT THE GHAEM HOSPITAL IN MASHAD OVER A 2–YEAR PERIOD. ALL PATIENTS SELECTED HAD A LARGE, DEEP VENTRAL GROOVE, WITH A WIDE OPEN URETHRAL MEAT US.
RESULTS: THE MEAN AGE WAS 5 YEARS (3-8 YEARS) WITH A MEAN FOLLOW UP OF 9 MONTHS (2-23 MONTHS). OPERATION TIME VARIED BETWEEN 20-35 MINUTES (MEAN 20 M.). ALL PATIENTS HAD URINARY DIVERSION FOR 2 DAYS.
OF THE 26, THERE WAS ONE URETHROCUTANEOUS FISTULA (3.8%) THAT HAS SINCE BEEN EASILY REPAIRED WITH GOOD RESULT AND ONE PATIENT (3.8%) NEED TO REPOPERATION. THE PARENTS HAVE BEEN PLEASED WITH THE RESULTS IN 24.
CONCLUSION: THE G.A.P. IS TECHNICALLY EASY, RELIABLE AND OFFERS A RELATIVELY LOW COMPLICATION RATE ESPECIALLY FOR THE REPAIR OF PATIENTS WITH HYPOSPADIAS WITH A DEEP VENTRAL GLANULAR GROOVE AND WIDE-MOUTHED MEAT US.
