Abstract: 

Iron-catalyzed oxidative stress is believed to be the main mechanism involved in pathogenesis of argon dysfunction in iron overload. The use of antioxidants may prove to be useful in counteracting the prooxidant effect of iron and preventing its toxicity. The present study was undertaken to evaluate in vitro and in vivo the protective effect of orally and administration of silymarin alone and or in combination with des ferroxamine in an established model of long-term iron over local in rats.
