Abstract: 

The main problem in reclamation of mines is acidification of sulfides in wastes, especially pyrite. Alteration of pyrite in wastes which dumped in a neutralize or alkaline environment, generate a powerful acidity during several months or year. Since at so wastes we can’t rely on primary pH which measured in place, and generated acid by pyrite alteration should be consider. On this basis and as a case study, the PH of three waste dumps of Sarcheshmeh copper mine number 5, 15 & 31 and pyrite effect were studied. Before pyrite effect, it measured respectively 5.5, 6 & 6 and after that, estimated respectively 3.43, 4.45 & 4.9. Then with respect to conditions and available possibilities, three suggestions were offered: neutralization by limestone, establishment an organic cover and utilization of an impermeable layer.
