Abstract: 

Results obtained from different numerical methods in designing underground structures analysis have shown that mechanical behavior estimation of such constructions with suitable accuracy is very difficult. Means that validity of this original estimates depends on input data and how if represent the rock behavior. For solving this problem field measurement were made during construction to recalculate basic geotechnical parameters of rock. Back calculation can be accomplished by measuring difference between real behaviors and anticipation behaviors of the ground during constriction reduce. This paper reviews the background and merits of back analysis methods. This method in conjunction with field measurement was used to calculate rock mechanics and geotechnical parameters of the ground (i.e. cohesion, friction angle) for Lavason water conveyance tunnel.
