Abstract: 

The excavation techniques in rocks differ those in soil. Broadly, methods of excavation can be classified into Digging, Ripping and Blasting. This paper presents the results of rock mass classification of Golab Tunnel route on the basis of rippability rating (TRR). The seismic P-wave velocity in Rippability classification is costly. Thus, correlation between Q, RMR and Total Rippability Rating (TRR) has been proposed for estimating TRR of rockmasses. It is possible to evaluate rippability from Q or RMR classifications.
