Abstract: 

Histology is an important field of fish health that can detect subtle conditions or early signs of disease. Since salmonoids are very noticeable in fish farming, so investigation of different factors includes food diet on the histology of them would be necessary. In this study we investigated the effects of two natural and synthetic diets on the gut histology of Salmo trouta caspius. Specimen with synthetic diet was provided from salmonoids Hatchery Center in Kelardasht, and specimen with natural diet was provided from Caspian Sea (Tonkabon region). Cardiac and pyloric section of stomach tissue and anterior and posterior section of intestine were fixed in Boin's solution for 24 hours. After dehydration, specimens were embedded in paraffin and 7micrometer sections were made. The slides were stained using hematoxilin eosin. Light microscope observations were carried out with different magnification from 5 to 100. The results showed that, cardiac section of stomach tissue had more advanced cardiac gland but pyloric section had more advanced mucus layer. In general, specimen with synthetic diet had more advanced mucus layer than sub mucus layer but, specimen with natural diet had the both of mucus and sub mucus layers in advanced form. In anterior and posterior section of intestine tissue, in both specimen compared to pyloric section compact layer and granulosa had reduced, but mucus layer and sub mucus layer had more advanced and was observed more goblet cells, but in specimen with natural diet showed morelonger mucus layer.
