Abstract: 

The present study investigated the effects of β1-adrenoceptors and angiotensinergic system on water intake in adult male rats. Intracerebroventricular (i.c.v.) injections were carried out in all experiments after 24-h. deprivation of water. After deprivation, the volume of consumed water was measured for 1 h. Administration of losartan, the angiotensin II (ANG II) antagonist (45μg/rat), propranolol, β2-adrenergic antagonist (0.25μg/rat), decreased water intake, while salbutamol, β2-adrenergic agonist (0.1, 0.5μg/rat), increased water intake in isolated rats. Excitatory of water intake by salbutamol attenuate the inhibitory effect of losartane. On the other hand the addition of propranolol decreased the inhibitory response of losartan.
It is concluded that angiotensinergic and β2-adrenergic system have a close interaction in water intake mechanisms.
