Abstract: 

Heart receives many branches from autonomic nervous system. Agonists and antagonists of this system can alter different activities of the heart. Adrenergic agonists and antagonists may affect the protein synthesis in some organs. For example, Isiproterenol (adrenergic angonist) can increase the synthesis of total protein and amylase in rabbit salivary glands and Prazosin (adrenergic antagonist) can increase total protein synthesis in rabbit parotid glands. In this research, the effect of Prazosinon total protein synthesis in rabbit heart tissue was examined. We used 10 rabbits, male, adult, albino whit weight range of 1000-1200 gr. Animals were divided into two groups (test & control). Test group treated by 0.5 mg/kg Prazosin–Hcl for two weeks daily. At the end of experiment, animals were killed by ether and their heart removed. The heart tissue was homogenized by liquid nitrogen and hand hemogenizer with phosphate buffer %25M PH= 7.2 and then centrifuged at 17000*g for 20 minutes .Supernatant used for total protein measurement by Lowry method. Optical absorbance of each sample was read after 45 minutes in540 nm. Data analysis showed that there is a significant difference in the total protein between control and test groups (p<0/05).
