Abstract: 

The use of corticosteroids for days or a few weeks may result in suppression of pituitary-adrenal function that can be slow in returning to normal. In addition topititary-adrenal suppression. The principal complications resulting from prolonged therapy with corticosteroids are fluid and electrolyte disturbanceds, hypertension, hyperglycemia, osteoporosis, catarats, behavioral disturbances and cushing’s habitus, consisting of moon face. The corticosteroids also affect circulating white cells. the administration of glucocoricoids leads to a decreased number of blood lymphocytes, eosinophils, monecytes and basophils but in contrast that causes in increase in the number ofpolymorphonuclear leukocyts in the blood. In this case report was showed that administration of hydrocortisione leads to an increase in the platelets and total white blood cells.
