Abstract: 

The evidence shows that different amount of lead acetate could affect normal activity of pituitary-gonad-axis and male sexual hormones. In the present study, the effect of different Dosage of lead acetate on the sexual behavior and the level of testosterone were investigated. In this experimental study, 40 male wistar rats each weighting 200-220 grams were used. Animals were divided into 5 groups of 8. The control group was given nothing; the sham group only received distilled water; and the experimental groups orally received 25, 50, 100 (mg/kg) lead acetate respectively for 28 days. Sexual behavioral parameters were compared among experimental and control groups in 7, 14, 21 and 28 days.
The result shows that 50 and 100(mg/kg) lead acetate cause a significant increase in Mount Latency (ML), Intromission Latency (IL), Ejaculatory Latency (EL), Post Ejaculatory Interval(PEI) in respect to control and sham groups. In addition 100mg/kg lead acetate causes a significant decrease in Intromission Frequency (IF), Copulatory Efficacy (CE), Inter Copulatory Interval (ICI) in respect to control group. While Mount Frequency (MF) show any significant changes. Further more the levels of testosterone in experimental groups receiving 50,100 (mg/kg) lead acetate showed a significant decrease in respect to control group.
According to the results lead acetate probably can cause a decrease in sexual stimulation and activity via direct effect on lydic cells and a reduction in the level of testosterone.
