Abstract: 

Nowadays, in spite of knowledge and technology advances still herbal medicine is valuable and many people prefer herbal drugs. In present study 24 male adult rats with the weight of 250-300gr were selected. accidentally, animals were divided into 4 groups: 1 contorol group and 3 treatment groups which were administrated Zataria multiflora essential oil orally with the rate of 100, 200 and 400mg/kg for 10 days. at the end of the study, blood samples have been taken from heart under anesthesia and biochemical factors (triglycerides, cholesterol, keratin, total and direct bilirobin, uric acid, BUN and glucose) measured by the means of Pars Azmoon and Darvash industry kits and auto analyzer auto lab apparatus and statistic studies were done. The results of this study showed that the rate of triglyceride in the group with the maximum (400mgr/kg) dosage (101.8±13.4 mg/dl) was above control group (P<0.05). The cholesterol rate was lower than control group in all of treatment groups. The rate of keratin in 400 group (0.69 ±0.04mg/dl) was above other groups (P<0.05). The rate of total biliroobin in 400 group (0.69 ±0.04mg/dl) was above other groups (P<0.05). The rate of direct biliroobin was lower than control group in all groups was the the difference was not meaningful (P>0.05). The rate of BUN in 400 group (46.8±1.65mg/dl) was above other groups (P<0.05). The rate of uric acid in 400 group (3.01±0.43mg/dl) was above other groups (P>0.05). The results of present study showed oral administration of the drug dues to different reactions on serum factors and this drug should be used cautiously.
