Abstract:

Although hypericum perforatum has been subjected to extensive studies in the last decade, there are still many questions about its function. In this study the effects of he on hpg axis and testosterone has studied. Male rats (220±20g) were housed two per cage at 22+2 c and a 12-h light/dark cycle. Rats were separated into following (n=7) 1) control: under immobilizing stress treated by normal saline 2) experimental: under immobilizing stress treated daily by 60, 120 and 240 mg/kg of he doses during 4 weeks, animals received he by gavage.
Results showed increase in testosterone levels of experimental groups by 60 mg/kg he on stress condition. These results indicated that he increased testosterone hormone level on stress induced animal. Therefore these results can improve the infertility caused by stress.
