Abstract: 

The wound Healing is one of the most important problems that the science of medicine has been coping with. Nowadays, in spite of huge use of synthetic drugs, using medical plants as remedies has kept its place in medicine. Here, properties of Rosa Damascena are very important. Knowing its contents, we examine the healing effects of its watery extract and especially watery fraction on wounds. Eight male rabbits were divided into two groups of control and Test ones on whose ears 64 holes of 4 mm were punched. - In this research, a watery fraction wasextracted from Rosa Damascena’s watery extract using Soxhlet extractor and this fraction was used as a remedy in the test group while control group’s remedy was normal saline. The treatment happened two times a day and continued for one month,from day 0 (punching time) to day 50. Moreover, before each sample was taken during the treatment, the diameter of the holes was controlled and studied through the Millimeter Sheet to measure the reconstruction. Having been fixed, first paraffin molds and then 7μ cuts were provided and H & E (Hematoksilineozin) were finally painted. The criterion used to study and evaluate the wound healing was that the Epithelisation, Folliculisation and Percentage of Repair on the ears of the rabbits in the experimental group was carefully investigated.
The percentage of the repair tissue (for example in distal position) at a macroscopic scale in the fifth day has been 39% and 45%, respectively, for watery fraction group and control group while those increased to 72% and 87% in the fifteenth day. The microscopic results in the forty fifth day show that the average thickness of epidermis has been 11 and 13 μm in test and control groups, respectively. Considering folliculisation procedure, test group follicules had a better healing procedure compared with the control group.
Watery fraction which is extracted from Rosa Damascena’s watery extract is a natural product which its effect on epidermis Regeneration and wound surface repairing is not different from normal saline but as shown in this research, this fraction has a positive role in folliculisation which might be due to the excessiveexistence of compounds like Bioflavonoid and Saponin. Meanwhile, compared with the effects of other fractions extracted from this plant which were shown in previous researches done by me and my colleagues, watery fraction has less effects on wound Healing.
