Abstract:

There is a basic lack of information about the presence of pesticide residues in the environments specially water in Iran, for this reason diazinon one of organophosphourus pesticides in Dam Region of Karaj River and other relative sites has been studied in 2002.
Seven sampling stations were identified along the river and carried out analyses during the controlling season. In total 154 samples were collected and analyzed for diazinon residue at the insecticide chemistry laboratory of School of Public Health, Tehran University of Medical Sciences. The samples were prepared procedures and Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) was used as analytical method.
The samples were gathered from the river line and orchards in different sites as a site samples. The fruit of orchards consist of apples, plums, pears etc. Pesticides application treated between April (Farvardin) and early September (Shahrivar) before fruit harvest. The data showed that the residue of diazinon was 623ppm one day after application pesticide and then three month later decreased to nil in orchards that have been taken the samples. In other sampling sites, the residue differs from 509ppm to nil one day and three month after application respectively. Whereas diazinon were found less frequently (10 ppm) behind the Dam one day after application the pesticides and decreased to nil after two weeks. It seems that some factor such as weather situation, Phisico-chemical characteristic of the pesticides, pH, water velocity etc. could affect the pesticide residue of samples.
