Abstract:

LEAD RESIDUE AS A ONE OF TOXIC HEAVY METALS .IT HAS BEEN PROVEN THAT LEAD RESIDUE EXPOSURE CAUSED HEMATOLOGICAL, NEUROLOGICAL, RENAL, CARDIOVASCULAR AND ... EFFECTS. 97 RAW MILK SAMPLES FROM 17 STATES IN IRAN AND BASED ON TOTAL MILK RECEIVED IN 16 DAIRY PLANTS BY STATISTICAL ANALYTICAL METHOD WERE ANALYZED BY AAS. THE AVERAGE IN THESE SAMPLES WAS 7/9PPB WITH STAND DEVIATION 8/82. MORE THAN 90% OF SAMPLES WERE LOWERS THAN 22PPB. INFORMATION ON DATA /ASSESSMENT STUDIES ON LEAD IN MILK IN SUGGESTING THREE LEVELS OF LEAD IN MILK FOR THE EVALUATION BY JECFA THE REPORT OF THE 53RD MEETING OF THE JECFA, 2000 GENEVA THAT PROVIDES EXPOSURE ASSESSMENT FOR LEAD THROUGH THE WHO REGIONAL DIETS.
REGARDING THE REPORT, ESTIMATED LEAD INTAKE BASED ON WHO REGIONAL DIETS IF IT WERE PRESUMED THAT ALL FOODS CONTAINED LEADS LEVELS AS PER CCFAC MAXIMUM LIMITS, IT WOULD BE FIND THAT IF THE MAXIMUM LIMITS OF LEAD FOR MILK AND MILK PRODUCTS WERE TAKEN AS 0/1PPM EACH, THE TOTAL EXPOSURE IN THE EUROPEAN DIET (EUROPEAN DIET PROVIDES MAXIMUM POTENTIAL FOR WEEKLY INTAKE OF LEAD THROUGH FOOD) WOULD BE 23.38 MICROGRAM OF LEAD PER KG BODY WEIGHT FOR A PERSON OF AVERAGE 60 KG BODY WEIGHT, THIS WOULD MEAN A WEEKLY INTAKE OF 1403 MICROGRAMS, WHICH IS LESS THAN PTWI OF 1500 MICROGRAM FOR LEAD .ALL OTHER DIETS WOULD PROVIDE FOR A LESSER WEEKLY POTENTIAL INTAKE. NATURALLY, 0/05PPM OR THE EXISTING 0/02PPM AS THE MAXIMUM LEVELS OF LEAD IN MILK WOULD RESULT IN STILL LOWER INTAKE OF LEAD. FINALLY, IT IS SUGGESTED TO JECFA TO EVALUATE THREE MRL FOR LEAD IN MILK AND MILK PRODUCTS; 0/02, 0/05, AND 0/1PPM
